  • Adjustable for custom feel

What Is Trigger Pull weight?

Pull weight is the amount of force, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. Timney Trigger experts at our Phoenix, Arizona plant hand-test every trigger in its intended action and then set the pull weight at our factory standard, 3 lbs.

If you prefer a different pull weight you simply select it from the drop down above and your Timney Trigger will be customized to your preference.
The #1 reason to replace your factory trigger with a Timney is accuracy. A lighter, crisper, more consistent trigger pull will make you more accurate with your firearm.

Below is a guide for pull weight selection:

2-2.5 pounds
Light trigger pull weights are great for people shooting lighter weight rifles as they can help keep you on target during the shot. Also common weights for target shooting from a bench.

3-3.5 pounds
By far the most common trigger pull weights -this is great for virtually all applications including target shooting, hunting and 3-gun competitions.

4.0 pounds+
Heavy trigger pull weights are good for cold weather hunting or applications where you may be shooting with gloves on.

left hand trigger for M77 Hawkeye

Posted by JEFFRY Dobbins on Apr 21st 2020

Contrary to what your website says "No gunsmith needed, easy to install" this replacement kit (at least for a new Ruger Hawkeye Hunter Left-Hand 300 Win Mag) requires significant metal modifications and stock shaving. This replacement comes both left and right so maybe a right hand will install easily...I think Timney makes a great product but the fit is crap...sorry...remains to be seen if the gunsmith can ever successfully instal this replacement trigger...

    Good Trigger

Overall it is a huge improvement over the stock Ruger trigger. I installed it in my M77 Hawkeye African (.375 Ruger) and it is working great. With that said it took a considerable amount of filing to get it to fit in the rifle and again to allow the Ruger safety to function, take your time with it. Would have given it 5 stars had it not required modification, works great.

This particular trigger set required a little modification upon installation but anyone good with a die grinder or dremel can do it and the red spring gives you the perfect trigger pull! absolutely amazing difference in this rifle!

Easy to install with a correct set of punches and small steel files. Makes a huge difference over stock trigger. Take your time with the safety clearance. A small file takes a little extra time but ensures an exact fit.

Easy to install adjustable overrun and a nice crisp release
I even liked the candy sucker that came with the trigger
I would and have recommended Timney triggers to every hunter I know

    FTW trigger upgrade

Followed all instructions other than using the padded vise. It seemed easier to remove old trigger and fit the Timney trigger while seated at a table. I was very cautious about filing the new trigger. I found it was pretty easy to do using a stone with a Dremel. After filing enough to get the safety to work with the barrel out of the rifle, I found more filing was needed after the bolt and barrel were put back together. It was worth the time. This trigger is much better than the factory trigger.

Easy installation and a dramatic improvement over factory trigger, just take your time and follow the instructions. Check safety clearances often.
I have several more Ruger rifles that I will be installing this trigger on.

    M77 Trigger Upgrade

Posted by Tony on Dec 20th 2018

Received this trigger at my door and had it installed in 2 hrs. Works great and cannot wait until go hunting this weekend. Longest part was filing down for the safety (take your time to get this right) and sanding the stock for extra wide trigger for the set screws. At the moment, very well please just like my target rifles. The extra spring that was sent is way too light as it would go off with just a bump of the stock. I used the OEM spring and it is absolutely perfect!!!
