What Is Trigger Pull weight?

Pull weight is the amount of force, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. Timney Trigger experts at our Phoenix, Arizona plant hand-test every trigger in its intended action and then set the pull weight at our factory standard, 3 lbs.

If you prefer a different pull weight you simply select it from the drop down above and your Timney Trigger will be customized to your preference.
The #1 reason to replace your factory trigger with a Timney is accuracy. A lighter, crisper, more consistent trigger pull will make you more accurate with your firearm.

Below is a guide for pull weight selection:

2-2.5 pounds
Light trigger pull weights are great for people shooting lighter weight rifles as they can help keep you on target during the shot. Also common weights for target shooting from a bench.

3-3.5 pounds
By far the most common trigger pull weights -this is great for virtually all applications including target shooting, hunting and 3-gun competitions.

4.0 pounds+
Heavy trigger pull weights are good for cold weather hunting or applications where you may be shooting with gloves on.

Timney trigger for the Sako Forrester

Posted by Bob Davis on Jun 11th 2019

While the trigger installation on the action was simple enough, getting it to fit the stock was nothing short of a nightmare. Major modifications were necessary not only to get it to fit but to enable the safety lever to move far enough forward in the stock to allow trigger and sear engagement. Once we were able to make the necessary modifications it worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the product. In defense of the installation issues, the rifle is a 70's vintage Sako so the fact that it's almost half a century old might have something to do with the difficulties.

    AII (L579) Action

Posted by Michael Collings on Mar 2nd 2019

I'll give the trigger a 5 star, it's excellent. The installation on newer Sako models may be straight forward, but with the Aii it takes a lot of work. Need to round the attachment lug on the action (where pin goes thru), open up the in-letting on the stock, and grind the trigger to clear trigger guard, and the round the corners on the trigger frame so it could lay flat against the action when tightened with retaining screw. So if you feel confident to do these things yourself, the job will turn out great, otherwise I'd take it to a gunsmith.
