Alpha Competition Series for Smith & Wesson M&P
Jan 23rd 2022
Like most of you, we set our New Year’s Resolutions for 2022, but unlike our resolution of going to the gym, we plan on keeping this one alive and well all the way until December. This year’s resolution is to continue to make our customers happy by fulfilling their trigger requests, and we’re kicking it off with the one you all have been asking for. Say hello to the newest addition to our Alpha Competition Series: the Smith & Wesson M&P replacement trigger!
A Year in the Making
A year ago, we did the unthinkable by entering into the handgun market for the first time. We’ll be honest: we were a bit nervous about the debut of our Alpha Competition Series for the Glock because entering into a new market is no easy feat. However, our worries were unfounded because both Gen 3-4 and Gen 5 Glock triggers did astoundingly well thanks to our loyal customers! Soon after the release of our Glock replacement trigger our customers began asking for more handgun trigger types, and as you know, we have never been ones to disappoint our customers…
The Secret is in the Details
When it comes to this trigger, it’s all in the details. Every part of this trigger is intentional – from the design process to the meticulous machining to the careful packaging, this trigger boasts excellence. The design process for this trigger is done by our world-class engineers who spend hours making sure that every detail has been implemented. After this process, the trigger design makes its way to the shop floor where our machinists use our state-of-the-art machines, such as wire-EDMs, to carve out the trigger parts from top quality metal. At Timney, we understand practicing tolerance is an important aspect of a healthy life, but not when it comes to the precision of your triggers. Our wire-EDMs ensure that your trigger allows no tolerances, meaning that it will not wiggle or move an inch after it is installed properly, so you can feel confident in the safety and accuracy of your new trigger. Once the parts are precisely machined, they are sent to be heat treated and Teflon nickel (NP-3) coated to ensure they are robust and reliable.
After this, the trigger parts once again meet the hands of our amazing experts at Timney. First, the assemblers methodically assemble the trigger parts together before sending them over to our testers. Once in the hands of our testers, the triggers are placed into a simulated action and tested repeatedly to ensure they operate at peak performance. Once it is confirmed the triggers perform to our standard, the testers set the pull weight at 3 pounds, check the trigger a few more times, then send it over to shipping and packaging. The triggers are then carefully placed into their Timney packaging then finally shipped off to their new home: you!
A Trigger Worth the Hype
The new Timney replacement trigger for the Smith & Wesson M&P answers the call for a trigger that matches the reliability of Smith & Wesson, while maintaining the feel and performance of a Timney Trigger. With a factory set pull weight of 3 pounds, this trigger delivers a crisp, clean break that will allow you to be your most accurate self with your handgun. This trigger is made from the highest quality material to ensure that you are indeed receiving the World’s Finest Trigger. The trigger shoe has an internal pivoting trigger safety and is made from anodized aluminum, which makes the trigger corrosion resistant and durable for a lifetime of dependability. Both the trigger sear and the safety plunger are Teflon nickel (NP-3) coated, a process which practically eliminates friction, allowing for an outstandingly smooth feel. When designing this trigger, we made sure to include every little detail because we care about your shooting experience. We have been making shooters great since 1946, and this trigger is just another way to prove that we won’t be stopping anytime soon.
