What Is Trigger Pull weight?

Pull weight is the amount of pressure, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. Timney Trigger experts at our Phoenix, Arizona plant hand-test every trigger in its intended action and then set the pull weight at our factory standard, 3 lbs.

If you prefer a different pull weight you simply select it from the drop down above and your Timney Trigger will be customized to your preference.
The #1 reason to replace your factory trigger with a Timney is accuracy. A lighter, crisper, more consistent trigger pull will make you more accurate with your firearm.

Below is a guide for pull weight selection:

2-2.5 pounds
Light trigger pull weights are great for people shooting lighter weight rifles as they can help keep you on target during the shot. Also common weights for target shooting from a bench.

3-3.5 pounds
By far the most common trigger pull weights -this is great for virtually all applications including target shooting, hunting and 3-gun competitions.

4.0 pounds+
Heavy trigger pull weights are good for cold weather hunting or applications where you may be shooting with gloves on.

    Awesome trigger

I purchased this trigger to install on a friend's rifle. It was a 30 year old Remington 700 in .270Win. While reinstalling the bolt release and spring was a pain, installing the trigger itself was a piece of cake. It feels great right from the package. We chose to go with the trigger with a new safety pre-installed because the original one was so stiff. 10/10 would buy another!

I have replaced most of my Remington and Savage rifles with timney triggers. all work as ordered and are extremely easy to install. I am a hunter, these triggers give me additional confidence when it is time to squeeze the trigger.

I now own five of these. I have tried a lot of triggers and found these to be the best. They are reliable and have a constant pull. Thank you for the great triggers

    Bolt release

Posted by Bruce Adriance on Aug 29th 2019

Trigger is very crisp and breaks at 2.5 lbs as advertised, however the bolt release takes a bit of tweaking. Had it adjusted to work, took the gun out and fired it, after a range session the bolt release would not push up far enough to release the bolt from the receiver. Gonna require more disassembly and tweaking. That aside, the trigger is a real delight.

    Well worth the money

I bought the 2.5lb thin trigger and absolutely love it. Best part is you can install it yourself at home. No more waiting on the gunsmith for a month when you can do it in about 10 minutes.

    Model 510 trigger

Easy Install and smooth trigger operation. However, bolt release sticks in release position. Need to widen opening in wooden stock to create space for bolt release to slide effortlessly.
